Looking back over 2017 and forward to 2018
What a difference a year makes!
2017 was the year I decided to start a retail venture. Firstly, the studio was recorated - was it the gorgeous agave I saw on a windowsill in Kensington that started it all!?
Through my network of creative friends and the Wirral Open Studios I met lots of lovey people who provided arts and crafts, and the smallest shop in Hoylake came to life!
Although I’ve enjoyed this venture I totally underestimated the amount of work required and the difference also between running a ‘shop’ and running a ‘studio’. I’ll still be selling bits and pieces through the studio – it’s nice to have the outlet for my creativity – but I’ve come right back round to my first love – custom stationery.
So for 2018 the focus will be on developing our offering with new packages to compliment our custom stationery design. I understand that not everyone wants to spend the time and money on custom stationery so whilst I’ll never move away from that completely, I will be working on just how to give you the full Dragonfly experience in a perfectly shaped package format – watch this space!
2017 was the year of embossed boxes and laser cut details – how lovely! I’ve also come round to the idea of glitter, we’ve produced some gorgeous invitations with glittery details, and this will certainly form part of the new package offering. Here are some of our lovely invitation suites from this year.
2018 is already shaping up to be a busy year and I’m getting a lot of classical romance coming through – lovely pastel shades, pinks, blush, apricot – and greenery – so much foliage! All very delicate and pretty, which certainly keeps my spirits up in these darker months of the year!
